WyoAIDS Walk is a 5-K pledge walk to benefit men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Wyoming. This annual walk has been held in Laramie since 2002, and to date has raised nearly $120,000. Walk funds are administered by Laramie Reproductive Health, and can be accessed through HIV/AIDS Case Managers across the state.
The walk also includes a week of education and awareness activities on the University of Wyoming campus, beginning the Monday before the walk, and wraps up with our annual Drag Queen Bingo spectacular on the Saturday evening of the walk, April 17. A schedule of this year's planned education events, and the walk itself is posted on the 2010 Calendar Page in the main menu.
- Special guests joining us for this year's walk include Todd Fogel, who will be giving this year's keynote address on Thursday, April 15. Mr. Fogel is an award winning education of the field of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. His interactive instructional curriculum uses the internationally known NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Also joining us will Donna Sweet, MD, who will give a free brown bag lunch presentation on campus on Tuesday, April 13, as well as speaking to UW classes and medical professionals. Dr. Sweet is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas. She has been recognized nationally for her role in the research and treatment of HIV. She has received awards from the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AMFAR) as well as the Health Care Financing Administration.
For the second year, Cheyenne will also be hosting a walk in support of WyoAIDS Walk. The Cheyenne walk will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The Cheyenne walk schedule and related events are posted on the 2010 Calendar Page in the main menu.
